Back up and/or Restore Genesis R&D Foods with Database Utility

Back up

1. Exit out of Genesis R&D from all computers.
2. On the computer that houses your database...click Start>Programs>ESHA>Genesis>Database Utility.  Note: in later operating systems, you can just start typing 'Database Utility' and Windows should present the application to open.
3. On the menu, click Database/Backup
   
   or select the Backup Database icon
   
4. Select a location and name for the backup. NOTE: The backup must initially take place to the local computer.  After complete, you may move the .bak file created by the backup anywhere necessary to archive it.

Restore

1. Exit out of Genesis R&D from all computers.
2. On the computer that houses your database...click Start>Programs>ESHA>Genesis>Database Utility. Note: in later operating systems, you can just start typing 'Database Utility' and Windows should present the application to open.
3. On the menu, click Database>Restore.
   
4. Locate & highlight the .bak file from which you wish to restore.
5. Click OK.
6. After the Restore completes, you will likely need to (re)add your login as a valid user.

Add or re-add login as a valid user

1. Still in Database Utility, click Users>Manage.
2. Click New.
3.  If needed, change the login name to the proper username of the user who will need to run the software.  Often this is the name that appears by default.
4. Click Create.
5. Close Database Utility and test the application to see if your data is present.
