Is there missing data on some of the USDA standard reference database items?

The USDA Standard Reference database contains thousands of foods and over 135 nutritional components. Not all nutritional components contribute data for each food item, however. From the link below, you can view the documentation for the latest USDA standard reference database (the database is updated yearly). The documentation lists the percent completeness of the nutritional components tracked in the database. There are asterisks next to the nutrients that are included in the FNDDS database (which is the new name for the survey database). We do not currently provide the FNDDS database with our software packages. We recommend using the Spreadsheet report in our software products to scan for missing values before accepting nutritional totals. This is an essential step in the accurate reporting of nutritional data.
