Caffeine is not displayed on the mandatory label but may require additional cautionary statements if it exceeds the threshold set by Health Canada. These caffeine thresholds vary based on the food category (beverage, bars, chocolate, confectionary, or chewing gum).
Required statements include:
- "Not recommended for those under 14 years old, pregnant or breastfeeding women or individuals sensitive to caffeine"
- "Do not drink more than X serving(s) per day.”
In addition, the package must contain the statement “high caffeine content”.
